You gave your sister an apron for Christmas.
Because Tenth had given you the Look and said that it would be nice if everyone could exchange gifts for the Holiday like they did in the West. That it would make everyone feel like a real family, especially since not everyone had ones of their own.
Since no one could resist the Look and you were a sap for the Tenth anyway and a good right hand man took everything their boss said as an order, you did it. Carefully considered every member of the family and bought gifts accordingly.
..Except...Bianchi had been so touched by the gesture that she decided she was going to make you Christmas dinner like you used to have in the Mansion in Italy.
And because it was part of her present to you (along with that hideous scarf...), you had to eat it. Because the Tenth would be so disappointed if you refused to.
And so here you are, cursing the fact that you just can't say no to Tenth and writhing in agony when the door to your apartment rings.
You growl in rebellion for a few moments, debating about whether you should leave this bastard out in the the cold for bothering you, when you realize that it could be the Tenth and what sort of right hand man would you be if you left your boss waiting any longer?
You jump out of bed--Instantly regret it as the room turns on it's head--but manage to struggle back to your feet and make it to the door, wrenching it open.
"Haha! Wow, Gokudera you look like shit!"
Great, just what you need now, Captain Obvious baseball dumbass pointing out the perfectly obvious.
You're about to slam the door in his stupid grinning face when a hand on your forehead forestalls any protest to the visit.
"Hayato! You're burning up! Why did you say it was no big deal in that text when you're obviously really sick?!" And that Look again...
You back up to let them in to the apartment and used it to cover escaping from the Tenth's touch. Away so they wouldn't see you blushing, but that smirk and chuckle from the moron as Tenth was distracted heating up leftovers that Mamman sent proves your effort useless.
Then he wraps his arms around you and drops a kiss onto your head, murmuring into your hair to let the Tenth fuss, because he's worried about you all day and you almost want to sink into that embrace and murmur back but then you remember who you are and who he is and who you are together and sock him in the shoulder for the effort.
His squawk of alarm alerts the Tenth to your presence and he gives you the Displeased Look and quietly suggests that you go sit on the couch and rest and let him and Yamamoto take care of things in the kitchen. Because he was more than enough help while you were ill, so you can trust him with a simple meal right?
That stings but you let it slide and obey the almost direct order (which was really actually an order) and slump on the couch and brood (read:pout) until you fall asleep to the sound of Tenth and the idiot banging around in the kitchen.
You have a dream about snowmen attacking you and you wake violently to see Yamamoto setting your coffee table, snickering. You kick him. Then cower under Tenth's disapproving gaze as he carries in dishes of...something.
You're told it's food, so you eat it, but you don't quite believe it but it was Tenth saying so so it must be. You vow to check online after they leave. Just to make sure he wasn't mistaken. Because it wouldn't do for your boss to be wrong about something.
Apparently, they have other ideas, however, as they roll out the extra bedding that Yamamoto insisted he buy for you. You open your mouth to protest, say you're really tired or something, but a brightly wrapped box shoved in your hands interrupts you. Tenth is smiling that smile. The one that makes your heart melt all over again as he urges you to open it.
You want to pledge your loyalty all over again--and no, you are not
crying--when you lift a monogrammed lighter from the box. You look up to thank him and are interupted by his lips settling softly over yours and he pulls back with a small smile that says he understands and hands you another box. The idiots. With a matching monogrammed cigarette case and you're tempted to throw it at his head. A preemptive look from Tenth makes you reward him with a kiss too. You punish him with a punch to the side of the head when he takes it too far and tries to pull you to the floor.
You'd sent your gifts to Mamman's earlier via your sister when you were passed out from the pain. You refused to acknowledge the fact that they were both wearing the bracelet's you'd given them. Because it made you blush. And anything that made you blush was ultimately going to make Yamamoto tease you for it and you were automatically going to end up punching him and Tenth was automatically going to give you The Look and then you were going to be embarrassed and tempted to punish the moron again...It was a vicious cycle.
The night ends with Tenth giving you the look seven more times and you ready to strangle Yamamoto. It was the worse Christmas of your life and you think that next year you're going to be conspicuously absent because you just can't take it again. Not the food, the lights, the presents, the fucking snow, not Yamamoto snoring into your ear as he and Tenth have somehow found their way into your bed, despite the futons rolled out in the other room...
But then the idiot throws his arm around you and Tenth snuggles into your side and somehow...you think that maybe you might be able to tolerate it. Maybe.
But next year, you weren't giving Bianchi shit.
